Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps

Incoming 9th Graders!

USAJROTC-SSI Welcome! Welcome Letter

First we’d like to thank you for choosing to join JROTC here at SAHS and we hope to help you grow in your leadership skills. On this page we will have basic ranks, the creed and the chain of command for you to study.

What is a company? A company is the class you reside in, you will either be placed in Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, or Delta depending on your schedule. What is a Company Commander? A company Commander maintains discipline and order throughout each company. What is a Company 1st Sergeant? A Company 1st Sergeant makes decisions for the company goals. What is the Battalion Commander? The Battalion Commander is in charge of enlisted cadets and officers.  They help the battalion run smoothly. What is the Command Sergeant Major? The Command Sergeant Major (CSM) is in charge of all enlisted cadets and helps the battalion commander with anything he/she may need. What is the Executive Officer? The Executive Officer (XO) is in charge of staff, and makes sure they are trained properly and are fully aware of the duties they need to preform.

Ranks.

Ranks are what we use to signify authority and position in the battalion. There are two types of ranks, officers and noncommissioned officers(NCO). Officers are considered a higher rank than NCO’s and thus have authority above them.

Creed I am an Army Junior ROTC Cadet. I will always conduct myself to bring credit to my family, country, school and the Corps of Cadets. I am loyal and patriotic. I am the future of the United States of America. I do not lie, cheat or steal and will always be accountable for my actions and deeds. I will always practice good citizenship and patriotism. I will work hard to improve my mind and strengthen my body. I will seek the mantle of leadership and stand prepared to uphold the Constitution and the American way of life. May God grant me the strength to always live by this creed.
